Joe Aultman

Joe first went to Essbase bootcamp in the year 2000. Although that means all the Essbase gurus who learned about it in a year that started with a 1 will not teach him their secret handshake, it also means that he's been in the EPM space for over 25 years now. He believes that Essbase, the pioneer system that invented OLAP, the beating heart behind the scenes of Cloud EPM, and the secret source of Fusion ERP's reporting power, is one of the coolest bits of tech in the universe.

Joe worked on Essbase and Planning applications at 3 different billion dollar + companies and began to present about his work at conferences beginning in 2010. After discovering Groovy, he rewrote his Essbase automation framework around it, contributed a chapter on it for a book of Essbase technical treatises, developed an open-source framework leveraging it to enhance the Essbase Java API, and was among the first to explore its integration into EPM Cloud.

Joe has been in consulting now for 12 years, focusing the entire time on creating strategic multi-year roadmaps for companies that are looking for expert guidance to get from their current state to the future they envision. He is still a frequent presenter and Groovy evangelist, and he is currently a member of the Oracle Developer & Technology User Group (ODTUG) Board of Directors.

Joe joined the Oracle ACE program in June 2025.
